Rachel Matey
Rachel Matey is a recent graduate of James Madison University where she was a defensive midfielder for the Dukes. Rachel has been an impact player for the Dukes since her freshman year. Rachel ranks first all-time at JMU in career draw controls with 288 total.
During the 2023 season, Rachel earned First Team All-AAC, IL Women Lacrosse Third Team All-American, and First Team All Region. She was JMU Athletic Director’s Scholar Athlete and 3x Team Captain. She started in all games and was 4x American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. As a Junior, she was First Team All CAA, Second Team All State, and Third Team All American. As a sophomore, she was a first time All CAA and Second Team All State. She was an All Rookie Team Member as a Freshman.
Rachel is a 2018 graduate of Archbishop Carroll where she was a US Lacrosse All American and Philadelphia Catholic League MVP during her senior year. Rachel was an All Catholic and All-Delco member honoree. She also played soccer. Rachel is from a large lacrosse family. Her sister Meghan played lacrosse at Ohio State and her sister Kellie Ann plays lacrosse at University of Delaware. Her youngest sister, Mary, plays on the 2023 team and is a defender at Archbishop Carroll.
Rachel will be coaching the 2024 team this summer.
