Monica Johnson O’Brien
Monica currently serves as the Director of Little Laxers and has been coaching lacrosse at the youth level for the past 13 years. Additionally, she has spent the last seven seasons as an assistant coach for the Agnes Irwin Varsity lacrosse team.
Monica is a 2009 graduate of Monmouth University, where she was a 3 time All-NEC player and was named as the NEC All-Tournament Team goalie in her freshman, sophomore and junior year. She earned the nation’s sixth best save percentage in her junior year and 7th best in her freshman year. Monica led her squad to 4 NEC playoff appearances and 2 NEC championship titles, and one NCAA tournament appearance. In addition, Monica was placed on the NEC Academic Honor Roll in her sophomore, junior and senior year. Before Monmouth, Monica was a standout at Archbishop Carroll High School, where she was an All-Catholic First Team Honoree as both a junior and senior. She was also an All-Main Line and All-Delco honoree.
Monica’s passion for lacrosse and commitment to the development of young players continues to be a driving force in her career. Through her coaching, Monica strives to instill a love for the game while fostering skills that will serve her players throughout their lives, empowering them to be not only better athletes but also stronger teammates and leaders.
