Scottie Rose Growney played midfield at the University of North Carolina. During her fifth and last year of eligibility, Scottie played and started in all 22 games of the season. She totaled 56 goals and 20 assists on 76 points. Scottie also had 21 ground balls and 7 caused turnovers to help the Tar Heels.
During her senior season, Scottie ranked third among her teammates with 46 goals and 19 assists on 65 points. She was second on the team in goals and third in assists. Scottie was a member of the Tewaarton Award Watch List, Honorable mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse, second-team All-south by the IWLCA and ACC Offensive Player of the Week once.
Scottie had a breakout junior year. She was named to the Tewaarton Watch List, was an Honorable Mention All American and was on Sportscenter Top 10 plays of the the week. She was also named ACC and IWLCA Player of the week. Scottie has played in every game in her career for the Tar Heels. During her sophomore season, Scottie scored 21 goals and had 4 assists. Scottie’s behind the back goal vs Florida in the NCAA tournament was listed on Sports Center the #2 Play of the Week. Scottie helped her team win the ACC and make it to the Final Four in both her freshman and sophomore season. Scottie is a 2017 graduate of Conestoga High School where she was a leading midfielder for the Pioneers. Scottie was named a 2017 Senior Under Armour All American and a Preseason IL Women’s High School Team Watch list. She was a two-time U.S. Lacrosse All American and three-time All Central League honoree. Scottie was named Epoch/US Lacrosse High School Player of Week during her senior season. Scottie is a proud Phantastix alumna, who loves to coach because she wants to make sure the coming younger athletes have the same amazing experience she had!
